Great ideas for wedding planning success

Jackie’s Wedding Tips:

  • Have the entire bridal party scuff their shoes outside on the sidewalk or concrete so no one slips in their new shoes.
  • Make sure all your guest lists are in alphabetical order. It makes it much easier to address envelopes, make place cards, and keep track of all your guests.
  • Use lots of candles at the reception to add romance to the evening.
  • Use flowers that are in season to ease your budget.
  • It is inevitable that someone in your bridal party will be running late. Schedule rehearsals, hair appointments, and photography half-an-hour early.
  • Give the photographer a list of must-have photos so your albums aren’t missing a single memory.
  • Don’t get cold feet on the dance floor-take some dance lessons.
  • For place cards, use envelopes with table numbers inside. This way, table assignments will be easy to switch day-of.
  • Please never, ever e-mail invitations, save-the-dates or thank yous. Traditional invitations and thank yous sent through mail are much more polite.

Toast Tips:

  • Save the long, emotional toast for the rehearsal dinner. The wedding toast should be short and sincere.
  • Make sure everyone has a drink in their hands before you begin.
  • Draw everyone’s attention to the Bride and Groom, not yourself. (Although a quick introduction is okay.)
  • Name the people you are toasting.
  • Don’t drink too much before your toast, but be sure to take your sip after!
  • Remember to speak loudly and clearly, even if you’re nervous.
  • And in case it’s all forgotten: (Bride) and (Groom) may your lives be filled with joy, good health, and a lifetime of happiness. Cheers!
