Ok ladies, confession time. Which of you brides-to-be out there is waiting to decide on your own wedding dress until you see what Kate Middleton wears? Hmmm? There’s no shame, everyone in the fashion and bridal world is sitting on the edge of their seat, the final day before the insanely well-guarded secret of the soon-to-be-princess’ dress is revealed. A royal wedding, after all, doesn’t come around very often and, as Kate is pretty much required by British law to be the absolute epitome of grace and elegance, we know we won’t be disappointed. We are also pretty certain Kate will have a lucky British sixpence coin in her shoe!
We here at Mojuba can’t wait to see the dress, but we are also really excited to see the hats. While the dress’ designer is being kept so secret that tabloids have only managed to absolutely confirm at least four different names, the man who will design the royal wedding hats is well known. Philip Treacy, who designed the wedding hat of Camilla Parker-Bowles and has made hats for Lady Gaga and Sarah Jessica Parker to name just a few. Treacy, is hard at work on unique creations for everyone, up to and including the queen herself. And we just love those wild British headpieces! Did you know that the first thing many women did when Kate and William’s engagement was announced back in November, way before anyone could possibly have received an invitation, was to commission a hat to wear to the wedding?
Feeling inspired? It’s hard not to be when Mr. Treacy describes his creations as “a cheaper form of cosmetic surgery.” Hatsuk.com is a fun portal into the world of British millinery design, if you’re so inclined. Happy hat hunting!
